Job Description:
Department Description
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals experiencing acute illness or injury. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients across all age groups in a fast-paced emergency setting while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments, prioritizing care based on acuity
- Provide direct nursing care to emergency patients, including trauma, cardiac, medical, and behavioral health cases
- Initiate and manage IVs, administer medications, and monitor patient responses
- Assist with emergency procedures, resuscitation efforts, and trauma activations
- Utilize emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and ventilators
- Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, and support staff in a high-pressure environment
- Active, unencumbered RN license (state-specific or compact, as applicable)
- 3–5 years of recent Emergency Department (ER) experience
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- ACLS (AHA) certification required
- PALS and/or TNCC preferred (may be required depending on facility)
- Strong critical-thinking, multitasking, and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
