Co-Dough is a rapidly growing artisan bakery based in Newport, Rhode Island. What began as a small startup has quickly evolved into a high-volume operation with ambitious growth plans. We are building a disciplined, systems-driven bakery designed to scale significantly over the coming years.
We are seeking a Lead Production Baker who takes pride in consistency, efficiency, and craftsmanship- and who wants to grow alongside a business that is building for the long term.
About the RoleThis is a hands‑on, high‑accountability production role focused on executing daily prep and baking with exceptional speed, precision, and consistency.
You will play a key role in maintaining production flow across doughs, baking, and finishing. While this position does not require formal people management, it does require leadership through execution, ownership of outcomes, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Execute daily production plans efficiently while maintaining strict quality standards
- Oversee scaling accuracy, fermentation schedules, and baking procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food‑safe production environment
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and proactively improve processes to increase productivity and reduce waste
- Support and guide team members during production, reinforcing standards and pacing
- Monitor ingredient usage and communicate inventory needs
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation protocols
- Take ownership of meeting production volume and timing expectations
- 2+ years experience in a bakery or high‑volume kitchen environment
- Strong technical understanding of dough handling and baking processes
- Process‑driven and detail‑oriented
- Calm and steady under pressure
- Reliable, proactive, and self‑directed
- Pride in craftsmanship and consistency
- Coachable with a growth mindset
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working in a high‑volume commercial bakery setting with active ovens and equipment
- Available early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- $28–38 per hour based on experience and demonstrated production leadership
- Structured performance reviews with opportunity for increased compensation based on measurable operational impact
- Clear pathway toward expanded production leadership as the business scales
