Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Dietary Manager or Dietary Supervisor, Cooks shall prepare and cook meals for patients, residents, staff and visitors in a hospital and assisted living environment, adhering to specific dietary needs and health considerations. They work closely with dietitians and healthcare professionals to ensure meals are nutritious, hygienic, and appetizing.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:
- Determines types and quantities of meats, vegetables and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus.
- Determines amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submits order to Dietary Manager or Supervisor.
- Ensures meals are ready at specified times.
- Consults with Dietary Manager regarding use of left-overs.
- Consults Registered Dietitian on modified diets, as necessary.
- Supervises Cafeteria Aide workers when washing, trimming or preparing food.
Education Background and Experience Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent.
Required Licensure /
Certifications:
Food & Beverage Card.
Required Experience: Food service training or prior experience.
Professional Requirements:
- Maintain regulatory requirements
- Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
- Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
Compensation/How We Care For You:
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
