Inpatient Physical Therapist PD

Job Summary

Physical Therapist (PD) responsible for comprehensive examinations, diagnosis, individualized plan development, service implementation, and ongoing evaluation of patients. Reports directly to the Clinical Manager and/or Assistant Clinical Manager. Must adhere to Brown University Health values:

• Communicate professionally with patients, caregivers, rehab staff, providers, and other health‑care professionals.
• Examine and evaluate patients, establish diagnosis and prognosis, and create individualized care plans.
• Implement treatment interventions, coordinate patient rehabilitation, and revise goals based on progress.
• Provide patient and caregiver education, anticipate discharge needs, and recommend additional testing or services.
• Complete documentation and charges accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
• Apply evidence‑based practice consistently and seek guidance when necessary.
• Comply with hospital, departmental, and regulatory policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and community professional events.
• Support departmental teamwork, complete mandatory training, and adapt schedule as needed.
• Provide supervision to assistants, aides, therapists, and volunteers; review treatment plans and co‑sign notes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution (Master’s or Doctorate preferred).
• State license issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
• New graduates considered; clinical experience in program‑specific settings preferred.
• Fit for duty per OSHA standards and program needs.
• Independent action within department policies; refer complex problems to managerial staff.
• Membership in discipline‑specific professional organizations encouraged.
