Overview
Performs echocardiograms on patients 18 years of age and older. Performs other related duties, as required. Responsibilities- Complies with all lab standards in accordance with accreditation standards of IAC‑Echo.
- Functions as Technical Director if designated.
- Performs complete adult echocardiograms including 2D imaging, M‑Mode, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, and color Doppler.
- Demonstrates problem‑solving skills to optimize the evaluation and tailor exams to ensure comprehensiveness and accuracy.
- Makes preliminary measurements, performs calculations, summarizes findings, and communicates to the interpreting physician.
- Assists cardiologist during Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Stress Echo, and other procedures including use of cardiac imaging contrast agents and agitated saline.
- Maintains all equipment and supplies for the Echo Lab, submits service requests, and logs service.
- Performs proper cleaning techniques for TEE probe.
- Transfers and positions patients appropriately, monitors condition, and reports any unusual conditions.
- Utilizes data in the medical record to address specific clinical issues.
- Schedules exams to maximize productivity and prioritize as needed.
- Provides updated policy and procedure information for the Echo Lab.
- Establishes and maintains a monitoring system for Physician Peer Review and performs ongoing CQI studies for the lab.
- Submits reports to the Manager, maintains lab logs, maintains patient charges, and provides data for equipment evaluations and budget needs.
- Utilizes standard precautions at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Full knowledge of adult echocardiography and ultrasound.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- Current CPR certification.
Pay Range $39.56‑$65.28
