Assistant Early Childhood Teacher (Leave Replacement)

St. Michael’s Country Day School, an independent, non-sectarian school in Newport, RI serving students in toddler through grade eight, seeks a full-time Assistant Early Childhood Teacher (leave replacement) to join our Early Childhood program.
This temporary position is expected to conclude on June 12, 2026.

The Assistant Teacher works closely with Lead Teachers to support the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of children in a joyful, child-centered environment grounded in play-based learning, inquiry, and outdoor exploration. Ideal candidates are nurturing, reflective, and collaborative, with a strong interest in growing their practice within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications include:

• Experience working with young children (ages 2–5); a bachelor’s degree or relevant coursework in early childhood education preferred
• Clear, respectful communication with children, colleagues, and families
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and professional growth

Responsibilities include supporting classroom learning and routines, supervising Early Childhood Extended School Day, engaging fully in indoor and outdoor play, and contributing to the broader school community.
