Grounds; Janitorial Host - Seasonal Part-Time

Seasonal position for our Spring and Summer break periods. This role ends in September.

• Maintain the overall cleanliness of Newport Aquarium by completing daily checklists and cleaning tasks.
• Contribute to overall building maintenance both during operation and after hours.
• Proactively find ways to better the overall Guest Experience.
• Engage guests with animal facts, information, and personal connections through interpretation.
• Daily garbage, recycling, and compost disposal.
• Deep cleans using specified machines (pressure washer, carpet extractor, hard‑floor scrubber, etc.).
• Additional cleaning and maintenance tasks assigned by the House and Grounds Lead and/or Supervisor.

• 18 years old or older.
• Previous experience in facilities cleaning desired.
• Willingness to become Blood‑Borne Pathogens trained.
• Knowledge of aquatic life a plus.
• Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.

• Successful completion of pre‑employment background check.
• In good health and capable of performing strenuous and/or heavy physical labor.
• No history of allergy related to animals or plants that might interfere with ability to work.
• Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance and agility of movement that might interfere with ability to work.
• Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease).
