Position Information:
Part‑time Instructor in Art Education (Applicant Pool) – Department, School of the Arts. We are seeking a dynamic teacher‑artist with strong observational and perceptual abilities to teach 200–400 level Art Education courses and to teach visual arts at the K‑12 level. This role also supports the College of Education by working with Elementary Education majors through online and in‑person studio coursework to obtain licensure in Kentucky.
Experience in interdisciplinary teaching at the elementary level to infuse creativity into all classrooms is highly sought.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach Art Education courses following the existing learning objectives and CAEP accreditation standards. Possible courses include:
- Art for Elementary Education (ARTE
280) - Concepts in Art Education (ARTE
380) - Art Education Content I (ARTE
381) - Art Education Content II (ARTE
382)
Additional responsibilities include updating recorded lectures and/or organizing studio space with supplies for in‑person class meetings.
QualificationsQualifications to apply include holding an MA, EDD, or Ph.D. in Art Education. In addition to experience teaching art at the K‑12 level, college‑level teaching experience is preferred. Candidates possessing a BA or BFA with Art Education Certification (current or previous) will also be considered with years of teaching experience at the K‑12 level.
Minimum education:
MFA preferred; terminal degree appropriate to discipline.
