Position: Newport Aquarium Ticketing Host - Part Time Seasonal

Job Details

Maintain a positive attitude and appearance while greeting guests. Offer upsell/suggestions during all transactions with guests to help create the best possible visit. Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests. Maintain appropriate guest and team relations, ensuring guest and team satisfaction. Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills by handling comments, concerns, and suggestions from guests regarding the overall guest experience via phone, email, and/or in person.

Learn and maintain knowledge of ticketing system staying up to date on changes like ticket types and promotions. Responsible for maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, in addition to proper cash handling procedures. Must be self‑motivated and work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable. Perform and adhere to Herschend Family Entertainment Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Services Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest services operations.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Services Leadership Team.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to think clearly, and react quickly to changes and/or emergency situations.
  • Previous customer service or retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Knowledge of marine life is a plus.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of pre‑employment background check.
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time, ascend and descend floors, bend, stoop, and reach.
  • Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
