Job Description

• Provide task support by installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and providing technical support on equipment at Newport News, Shipyard.
• Apply comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
• Interface with customers and manage subcontractors; provide work direction to others.
• Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
• Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports, and task or trip reports.
• Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
• Perform duties outside of specialty, if required for installation or work assignment.

Qualifications

• High School education or trade school or equivalent and 4 years of related experience. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trade specialty.
• Experience with air hydraulic system.
• Rebuilding pumps and valves of various types.
• Ability to operate hydraulics.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.

Bonus Points for Having

• Prefer Aircraft and Weapons Elevator technician experience on CVN class ships.
• Prefer technical/professional certifications.
• Prior Navy experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes, no less than 30 lbs.
• Work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
• Perform duties involving high heat, humidity, noise, dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
• May ride ships at sea for extended periods; may require wearing a respirator.
• Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.
