Deck electricians are largely responsible for the installation, repair, overhaul, and operational testing of the electrical systems aboard the ship. Electricians can be working on one of the many electrical systems aboard the ship including lighting, power distribution, communication or navigation. Electricians read and interpret complex electrical and electronic schematics. The job of an electrician is unique in that it requires an individual that can quickly switch between differing tasks ranging from lighting and receptacle hook‑ups, installing wire way racks, rebuilding equipment, installing electronic controls, lighting maintenance, performing preventative maintenance, or welding of studs for mounting equipment.
This position is for job seekers who have received and provide a certificate or diploma in Electrical or a directly related field. Directly related fields include Commercial/Residential/Industrial/Aviation Electrical, Renewable Energy, Generator Installation, and/or Appliance Repair.
Candidates with no experience or certifications are encouraged to apply to the Electrician Trainee requisition.
Must HavePresent one or more certificates of completion or diploma in electrical or a directly related field from a high school vocational program, community college, trade school, technical college, apprentice program, post–secondary institution, or military equivalent.
Candidates must able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces. Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb. Must be able to lift 40lbs and must take and pass a respirator fit test. Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs. Must be able to pass a Physical Agility assessment.
