Registered Nurse General Surgery Unit

Join Riverside Health as a Registered Nurse in the General Surgery Unit in Newport News, Virginia. This is a full-time, day shift position. New graduates with a nursing diploma, associate’s, or bachelor’s degree are encouraged to apply.

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients. You will collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute care plans, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

• Assess patient needs and perform unit-specific competencies.
• Develop and evaluate care plans in partnership with patients and families.
• Ensure safe patient transitions and effective communication.
• Complete accurate clinical documentation.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and respond to emergencies.

• Educational Requirements:
  
  Nursing diploma, associate’s, or bachelor’s degree.
• Licenses and
  
  Certifications:
  
  Valid RN license in Virginia or a compact state, CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience:
  
  2+ years preferred; new graduates eligible.

• Weekend and irregular shifts required.

Eligible full-time RNs may receive a bonus of up to $10,000; new grads up to $6,000.
