Job Description – Position Details: 12 HR PM; every other weekend and holiday. No locals accepted (locals are considered within 50 miles of the facility). Dysrhythmia exam required at orientation (study guide available). At least 2 years experience with triage experience preferred. Must be willing to be a charge nurse. Not a Trauma center; busy ER that sees between 80-100 patients per day.
Fast paced environment. BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, and NIH. Blocked schedule will not be accommodated.

Primary Stroke Center. Cath Lab available. Staffed with ED nurses and ED techs.

Essential Job FunctionsThe Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse provides, coordinates, plans, and evaluates nursing care, and supervises licensed and unlicensed associates in nursing delivery within established nursing procedures, standards, and policies. The ED RN cares for patients in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting as part of an interprofessional team focused on outcomes. The ED RN models core cultural and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and ensure worker safety and a high quality experience of care.
Responsibilities include initial and ongoing patient assessment, plan of care, treatment implementation and evaluation, and administration of medications in a safe manner per policy. Serves as point of contact for patient care coordination, participates in ongoing quality improvement, and manages physical and emotional demands of emergency nursing care. Applies current nursing practice to care across the lifespan and collaborates with outside agencies as needed.
Performs in accordance with the nursing practice model and adheres to organizational policies. This description is not exhaustive; duties may include other job-related tasks as required by supervision and accommodation may be considered.
- Current RN License in the state of work or compact licensure requirement.
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must obtain prior to direct patient care).
- ACLS (preferred).
- PALS (preferred).
- NPR (Neonatal Resuscitation Program; preferred).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course; preferred).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
- 1 year of RN experience (required).
- Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience (preferred).
- EPIC/Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
- Assigns patient care according to staff scope and practice; provides education and facilitates learning.
- Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates care plans.
- Administers medications safely; ensures patient safety and coordination across departments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; collaborators across care teams; promotes cultural diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrates professional accountability and cost-effective practice; maintains patient privacy and safety.
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients; maintains composure during emergencies.
Physical Requirements
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. May be exposed to physical altercations, verbal abuse, noise, bright lights, hazardous substances, body fluids, and infectious materials. Use universal precautions and PPE; infection control policies apply. Physical demands include lifting/carrying and other listed tasks; certain activities may require repetitive movements and dexterity. Travel or shift work as needed. Safety and patient population considerations across neonates to adolescents are included as appropriate for unit needs.
