Part-Time Event Coordinator
Organization: Serve the City Peninsula (STCP)
Location: 11836 Canon Blvd., Suite 500 Blvd., Newport News VA 23606
Compensation: This is an unpaid, volunteer position
Love organizing, planning, and bringing people together? STCP is looking for an Event Coordinator to help make our Serve Days and special events run smoothly and feel welcoming for our volunteers. If you live on the Peninsula of Virginia, please consider joining our team.

We meet monthly and have dinner before meeting bi-monthly to planning how to best serve the community.

Serve the City Peninsula mobilizes volunteers to meet practical needs, build meaningful relationships, and transform lives and neighborhoods across the Virginia Peninsula. We partner with local organizations and focus on dignity, inclusion, and compassion, addressing hunger, housing, isolation, and inequality—one act of kindness at a time.
Our Impact
Neighborhood transformation by our home repair projects and neighborhood cleanups. Heart transformation by the care and love shared with those in need. We take the time to really listen to people’s stories and meet their needs.
What You’ll Do- Help plan and coordinate event details like venues, food, and equipment
- Work with the Core Team to support Monthly Serve Days and Big Volunteer Week
- Set up and support volunteer gathering spaces and celebrations
- Coordinate materials, donations, and logistics before and during events
- Be a friendly, calm presence on big event days to help things run smoothly
Monthly Serve Days: Help with venue setup and post-serve volunteer gatherings
Big Volunteer Week: Support meeting spaces, lunches, materials, and the end-of-week celebration
Fall Fundraisers: Help organize logistics, space, and event details to support important annual fundraising events

Flexible and seasonal, with more involvement during major events.
No prior event experience needed — just a willing heart and good organizational skills.
