Overview

Description The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold (-10 degrees

F), heat (80 degrees

F), rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors. Allergens found inside the plant include: fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and coconut.

Responsibilities
  • Leads team primarily in the accurate put-away, order picking, stacking, loading and shipment of Icelandic frozen products.
  • Assigns daily workload for Warehouse Freezer Associates including cycle counts, putting up loose cases and area clean-up as needed.
  • Prints schedules for shipping associates. Assigns picks and checks accuracy of check sheets.
  • Directs timely and accurate loading of orders on multiple outbound trucks simultaneously.
  • Allocates products, prints picks and Bills of Lading (BOL s) when necessary. Makes corrections if needed.
  • Communicates via phone and email with production, plant, and customer service about product shortages.
  • Monitors daily work performance, productivity and accuracy of Warehouse Freezer Associates.
  • Conducts forklift training for Warehouse Freezer Associates.
  • Monitors dock and freezer area. Provides assistance to Warehouse Freezer Associates as needed.
  • Handles or refers to the appropriate level of management personnel issues which arise during the shift.
  • Ensures all inbound and outbound materials meet the quality standards established by Icelandic management and supervision.
  • Communicates with truck drivers regarding the loading and unloading of product.
  • Coordinates the counting cycles. Assists with correcting any discrepancies or missing product.
  • Pulls samples for customer service, sales or QA dept.
  • Ensures the stock accuracy of product in the freezer as well as outbound shipments or required raw materials for the production line.
  • Monitors that the Daily Forklift pre-shift inspection forms are filled out. Identifies equipment that requires maintenance or repair. Writes work orders as needed.
  • Communicates with all departments about shipping issues or receiving issues that affect them.
  • Ensures all safety rules, OSHA standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP s) are met. Checks the temperature of all trailers being loaded.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift experience including Stand Up, Sit Down and Pallet Jack forklifts.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole number, fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Ability to lead, train and counsel subordinates.
  • Well-developed and demonstrated organization, attention to detail, problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation, and communications skills
  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal and written instructions and to engage in complex negotiations in English
  • Reliability in attendance and performance
  • Flexibility and the ability to perform and/or monitor multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to work overtime as required, including some weekends
  • Capable of determining root causes of problems and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal and written instructions and communicate fluently in English.
