Job Description
We are seeking experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics to support shipyard production and installation work. Candidates must have hands-on experience with shipboard or industrial sheet metal fabrication and installation, including ventilation systems, foundations, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture.
Marine experience is preferred; however, aircraft, industrial, or commercial sheet metal experience will be considered.
Required Experience & Skills
- 3+ years experience as a First-Class Sheet Metal Worker
- Experience installing:
- Foundations
- Ventilation systems
- Bulkheads
- Shipboard furniture
- Experience working in a sheet metal fabrication shop
- Ability to read and interpret complex ventilation drawings, blueprints, and sketches
- Including weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines
- Ability to work with fractional and decimal measurements
- Ability to layout, fabricate, and assemble piece parts per specifications
- Experience working in physically demanding environments
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to shipbuilding
- Proficient with hand and shop tools, including:
- Drill press, press brake, shears, and related equipment
Preferred (Optional) Skills
- Shipboard experience
- Experience operating mobile equipment:
- JLG
- Similar access equipment
