Departmental Objective:
The Housing department ensures that student-housing facilities are well maintained, clean and safe for the students of CNU.
Purpose of the Position:
This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping tasks.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to clean assigned areas and maintain a clean, safe environment for students and staff.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning supplies
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students
- Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers, or scrubbing machine
- High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
- Experience in cleaning methods and cleaning supplies
- Hotel, higher education or similar housekeeping experience
- Experience using housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers or scrubbing machine
Salary Information:
Starting at $31,200, Commensurate with Education and Experience. This position includes Commonwealth of Virginia and Christopher Newport University employee benefits. Benefits include retirement plans, medical, dental, vision, and other options. Available leave includes vacation, sick time, personal time, and volunteer/service leave.
