About the Position:
At Newport News Behavioral Health Center, we are dedicated to providing high‑quality, compassionate care to patients. We seek a Lead Mental Health Technician (RTC) committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
As a member of the program team, observe and report physical and behavioral symptoms under supervision of the Acute Nurse Manager or Registered Nurse. Participate actively in the implementation of physical care, therapeutic activities, and the academic program. Assist in planning and implementing treatment programs, functional behavioral assessment and behavior intervention plans. Provide oversight of unit supplies, unit activities and staff paperwork.

Must meet at least one of the following:
- One year of experience in a residential, acute or inpatient psychiatric setting plus an Associate’s Degree in Psychology or related field.
- Two years of experience in a psychiatric setting, high school diploma or GED, and at least three years working with children.
Required certifications:
Handle with Care, CPR, First Aid. Valid Virginia Driver’s License. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Preference for 1 year of team‑leading experience.
