Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group is actively seeking an Audiologist to practice for our ENT office in Newport News. Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG) includes more than 220 primary care, specialty physicians and advanced practice clinicians in more than 75 locations throughout southeastern Virginia. The schedule is Monday-Friday, work hours can be flexible, part time or full time.
Position SummaryThe primary purpose of the position is to provide diagnostic hearing evaluations to various age groups, to include pediatric patients. The Audiologist will then decide the most effective test to use after considering the patient’s history, age and diagnoses. Treatment is then recommended based on the results. Hearing aid sales and dispensing is also an integral part of this employed position.
MajorDuties and Responsibilities
- Perform audiological evaluations on patients ranging from various age groups who have problems with hearing, balance, or other ear related problems.
- Ensure equipment is in proper working order, cleaned and calibrated.
- Counsel patients on the appropriate rehabilitation plan.
- Assist patients with acquiring the appropriate hearing aids by making impressions for sizing, fit and style.
- Fitting patients with hearing aids once they have been received.
- Provide follow up care to include repairs, refitting/adjustments.
- Other duties to insure profitability of hearing aid sales.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 charting codes.
- Knowledge of Audiological software and/or equipment.
- Knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suites including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access. Office 2007 or newer required.
- Skill in verbal and written communication.
- Skill in providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the employment agreement.
- Ability to present information in an organized manner.
- Master's degree in Audiology plus certification of clinical competence (CCC-A) (ASHA/ABA or PASC), Doctoral (Au.D./Ph.D.) preferred.
- At least one year of professional audiology experience preferred.
- Virginia license and hearing aid dispensing license required, experience in hearing aid sales and dispensing a plus.
- Ability to lift or move equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to enter data into a computer via a keyboard.
- Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to grasp and hold up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally squat and lean over.
- Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
- Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
- Basic vision, corrected.
- Ability to see and understand data on a computer screen.
