Department: TPC-Adult Services Site.

Operating Unit: The Providence Center.

Location: Providence, RI.

Job : 23609.

Job Status: Full Time.

Shift: Days.

Schedule: Mon.

-Fri. 8:00am - 4:30pm.

This position is eligible for a $2,000 retention bonus.

Job Summary: The Providence Center Peer Specialist Community Support Services provides peer support services, serves as a consumer advocate, and supplies written and experiential resources to promote recovery. The role performs a wide range of tasks to help consumers regain control over their lives and recovery process. The Peer Specialist coordinates with multidisciplinary Integrated Health Home treatment teams to identify, support, assess, and address consumer barriers to achieving goals and objectives.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Mentor and provide recovery-based coaching for SPMI clients to assist the client in pursuing his/her individual health and wellness journey.
  • Provide individualized health coaching to clients in obtaining their health objectives.
  • Support clients in managing their mental and physical health.
  • Help clients learn how to make good choices for themselves.
  • Create and adapt wellness objectives to overcome barriers to good mental and physical health based on the needs of, and with input from, clients.
  • Co‑facilitate groups/classes to support improved health outcomes for SPMI clients.
  • Work closely with TPC teams to engage clients in appropriate services and resources and assist with coordination of care.
  • Promote consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, compliance with the healthcare registry, involvement and engagement with wellness services and engagement with primary care.
  • Complete all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation.
  • Maintain appropriate professional standards and provide appropriate follow‑up for consumers.
  • Provide self‑help recovery services (WRAP, Pathways to Recovery) and other peer wellness services.
  • Coordinate with TPC teams to expand the reach of wellness/health‑focused peer specialist services.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
  • RI State certified Recovery Coach or plan to complete this within the first year.
  • Understanding of community resources and recovery‑oriented systems of care model.
  • Knowledge of basic crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and some case management techniques required. Ability to act as an advocate for the needs of the parent is required.
  • Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of, and belief in, the SUD recovery process.
  • Minimum of 2 years established recovery time.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, registration, current inspection and insured automobile.
