The engineer manages the design and construction of new or expanded facilities, including electrical, mechanical, and structural work.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing codes, calculations, drawings, specifications, constructability, and material selections to support design work.
- Managing contractors, troubleshooting design or construction conflicts, and providing technical solutions.
- Performing safety assessments, audits, quality control, and inspections to meet design standards.
- Preparing startup and commissioning documents, checklists, operating procedures, and training.
- Conducting construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
- Providing on‑site resolution of engineering problems during construction and testing.
- Coordinating multiple projects and stakeholders, including customers and maintenance personnel.
- Preparing project cost estimates and collaborating with third parties on studies.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program or equivalent Construction Engineering / Project Management / Construction Management degree.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an industrial environment; advanced degrees with reduced experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s – 9 years relevant experience
- Master’s – 7 years relevant experience
- Ph.D. – 4 years relevant experience
Experience in electrical, mechanical, and structural design for industrial facilities.
