The Role

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Management Analyst to join the VCS Program Office Continuous Improvement Team. The CI team focuses on enhancing producibility and improving processes across the build sequence to improve the overall Virginia Class Submarine construction process. The CI program management team enables improvements, monitors and drives projects, and interfaces frequently with construction, engineering, the design yard and government.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and enabling process improvements to enhance producibility. Additional responsibilities will include engaging with other NNS teams and deckplate personnel to build relationships and seek areas for improvement. The ideal candidate should be a problem solver who is eager to find areas for improvement, develop solutions, cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, and support improvement projects across the VCS Program.

Must

Have
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience;
    Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
    • NNS Apprentice School graduate
    • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
    • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
    • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
    • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
    • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
  • Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, other STEM, deckplate or construction, and/or project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Process improvement and project management experience.
  • Knowledge of the VCS Program and submarine construction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
  • Proven experience in process improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience developing methods to monitor project progress and other key performance indicators.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Inventor, DDMS.
