This role is contingent and based on customer approval and candidate fulfillment of pre-hire duties.

Purpose

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Senior Maintenance Specialist Technician (mechanical) who will be key support to the Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assistance Team (CEMAT).

Job Description
  • Provide technical support to the ships force for assessment, fault isolation, repair, and final adjustment of specific items for CEMAT systems and equipment; conduct functional checks and operational tests onboard ship. Perform onboard US Naval vessels located at Newport News Shipbuilding.
  • Provide support including repair support by JSNs, On the Job Training (OJT), logistics support/review/validations, material condition assessments and quality assurance.
  • Update and maintain configuration and availability report database systems.
  • Develop or update on board training and curriculum and conduct instruction to Sailors aboard U.S. Naval Aircraft Carriers.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university. May be substituted for up to 2 years of technician experience.
  • Working knowledge of drawings, Navy operations, NAVSEA instructions, WAF and Tagout requirements.
  • 12 years of experience in operations, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems onboard U.S. Naval ships, including; 4 years of experience directing or supervising a work force of skilled technical personnel; 5 years of experience administering the Navy 3‑M and supply system; 5 years of experience with shipboard propulsion plants or auxiliary machinery equipment and/or nuclear‑powered propulsion plants maintenance and repair on U.S. Aircraft Carriers.

Qualifications
  • Two or more years’ experience with pump and valve removal, overhaul, installation and alignment.
  • Pump laser alignment certification.
Security Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a background security check for access to the shipyard.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel – less than 10% travel.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL .
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes; weight ≥30 pounds.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of naval vessels.
  • Employee may be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing required PPE.
