HII invites applications for Engineering Technicians (level 2‑4) in the Maritime Operations group at Newport News, VA. This role supports a wide variety of functional areas at Newport News Shipyard, providing critical technical support for environmental remediation, radiological monitoring, and waste management operations in nuclear andługi propulsion plant testing.

Experience:
Mid
- Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such TON laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
- Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
- Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas and makes quantitative judgments concerning technical data
- Uses a personal computer to analyze data and develop documentation and reports
- May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
- Engineering Technician 2 – Associates Degree or equivalent 2‑year technical degree + 1 year related experience; OR High School Diploma + 3 years related DoD/USN experience.
- Engineering Technician 3 – Associates Degree or equivalent 2‑year technical degree + 3 years experience; OR High School Diploma + 5 years related DoD/USN experience.
- Engineering Technician.
Cluster – Associates Degree or equivalent 2‑year technical degree + 6 years experience; OR High School Diploma + 8 years related experience.
- Strong background in shipboard electrical or mechanical systems, heavy industrial manufacturing, or shipbuilding and testing
- Prior U.S. Navy service with a technical rating or operations aligned with nuclear or maritime engineering standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance at the required level
- U.S. citizen
- Current or active DoD liberals clearance required throughout employment
- Experience in a skilled trade or a specialised technical role within a high‑consequence environment
- Shipyard or U.S. Navy A4W propulsion and/or reactor plant construction, operation, or maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of shipyard work‑control processes, including proficiency with the Electronic Shift Operating Management System (eSOMS)
- Active Confidential DoD Security Clearance
- Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for the required tasks; a waterfront office work environment is normally encountered
- Must be able to lift/move equipment not exceeding one‑person lift guidelines and climb shipboard vertical ladders
