Adjunct Faculty Member
- College of Natural and Behavioral Science / Biology and Chemistry. Appointment Type:
Adjunct. Purpose Of Position:
Christopher Newport University’s College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas in Spring 2026 and beyond:

  • Biology
  • Human Anatomy/Physiology I Lab
  • Topics in Medicine and Health
  • Chemistry
  • Introductory Chemistry I and II Lecture and Lab
  • General Chemistry I and II Lecture and Lab
  • Organic Chemistry I and II Lab

Qualifications include demonstrated ability for excellent teaching and the requirement to hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of graduate coursework in Biology to teach Biology courses or in Chemistry to teach Chemistry courses. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire. Candidates for hire are required to complete a University sponsored background check.

Information

The Department of Molecular Biology and Chemistry is composed of 22 faculty members and oversees the major in Cellular, Molecular and Physiological Biology under the B.S. degree program in Biology and the B.S. degree in Chemistry with majors in both Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Department is located in the $80 Million integrated science building, which includes dedicated research space for faculty and houses a vivarium, confocal microscope, real-time thermocycler, and other standard molecular biology equipment as well as over $1M of chemical instrumentation.
