Purpose of Position

The Department of Mathematics at Christopher Newport University is accepting applications for prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas in Spring 2026 and beyond:

  • Elementary Statistics
  • Contemporary Mathematics
  • Precalculus
  • Calculus for Business and Life Sciences

CNU is committed to excellence in teaching in a students‑first, liberal arts and sciences environment.

Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of related graduate coursework. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.

Candidates for hire are required to complete a CNU‑sponsored background check.

The Department of Mathematics at Christopher Newport University is composed of 17 faculty and 80 majors. Our faculty are nationally known teacher‑scholars devoted to teaching, mentoring and conducting important research.
