Overview

The Budget Accountant uses independent judgment and analytical skills in a highly computerized environment with responsibilities for:

• Monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt.
• Preparation and filing of Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements.
• Preparation and maintenance of annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns.
• Reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority and conducting cost analysis.

The Budget Accountant continuously analyzes the integrity of accounting functions and makes recommendations or implements solutions based on analysis.

Newport News, Virginia

Responsibilities

• Complete complex accounting analysis independently.
• Manage contractual adjustments, charity, bad debt, and regulatory filings with independent judgment.
• Develop and maintain budgets, tax returns, and reports, assessing and interpreting regulations.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, and leadership.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance/Business (Required);
  Master's Degree (Preferred).
• Experience:
  
  1 year in Accounting with analysis, budgeting, or financial statements (Required);
  Healthcare accounting/finance (Preferred).
• Licenses: CPA (Preferred).
