The MTA will manage approximately 12 direct reports—including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff—while maintaining operational excellence and coaching team members on case development, quality, and professional growth.
Responsibilities
• Implement and lead the NTD standard methodologies, processes, and guidelines, providing training as needed.
• Partner with National Practice Group Associate Vice Presidents on performance‑related matters and share opportunities to increase attorney proficiency.
• Maintain and promote strong client and claims management relationships.
• Lead performance and efficiency of attorney, paralegal, and support staff; review work assignments, monitor quality, and provide coaching, mentoring, and developmental feedback.
• Review and manage case performance on open and closed files of direct reports, assessing case load (typically no more than 10 cases).
• Assist with the preparation of business reports for office management and recommend critical short‑ and long‑term business decisions to the lead MTA.
• Co‑manage and coordinate all administrative functions, including expense management, staff planning, technology needs, and project coordination on systems and process changes.
• Respond to office growth demands, workforce adjustments, and changes in staffing, physical planning and technology.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active license in the state where the position is located.
• 10+ years of civil litigation and trial experience, with jury trial experience preferred.
• Demonstrated management experience, including supervising attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
• Strong analytical, legal, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Creative problem‑solver with advanced computer literacy and project‑management abilities.
• Ability to train and develop trial attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills and the capacity to set work priorities.
• Proficiency in complex legal matters, familiarity with commercial and personal lines litigation, and experience with litigation in multiple California counties.
• Commitment to the Nationwide values and the private practice of law policy.
Work Conditions
• Normal office environment with occasional overnight travel.
• Frequent travel within and outside California is required.
• Extended hours may be necessary to meet professional demands.
• Not eligible for overtime under the exempt classification.
