The Sleep Technologist performs a variety of sleep studies to diagnose the type and extent of disorders. The Sleep Technologist works closely with patients to diagnose and determine therapy for patients with a variety of disorders related to sleep. Technologists record and score sleep data and prepare raw data for physician and/or research interpretation.
What It Takes to be Successful- Required Qualifications:
- Registration through BRPT and the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnographic Technologist
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills
- Computer skills appropriate to the job
- BLS Required
- Associate’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- 3 or more years of direct patient care experience in Sleep Disorders
- 2 or more years experience as an RPSGT
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Digital and Analog equipment experience
- BiPAP, AVAPS, ASV, oxygen titration and ETCO2/TcCO2
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment training (BART)
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- 6 months working in an accredited sleep center
