Position: Patient Care Liaison (MA/Triage)

The Patient Care Liaison is responsible for answering and addressing all incoming calls to the Patient Care phone line. Similar to a nurse advice line, the Patient Care Liaison will respond to requests for information from patients and physicians relating to exams or procedures, in addition to reaching out to pharmacies and workers compensation adjusters and completing forms and paperwork as requested.

Previous experience in medical assisting or orthopedics preferred. Individual must be articulate, possessing the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, to pay attention to detail, and to work both independently and within a team to achieve company objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answers the telephone pleasantly, and within three rings as often as possible.
  • Answers general questions about patient care, prescriptions, and treatment.
  • Routes emergency calls to appropriate Physician, according to protocol.
  • Communicates essential information to callers according to protocol taking care to protect the privacy of physicians.
  • Scans documents received via US mail into Touch Chart. Files documents, as required.
  • Documents patient encounters in notes field of Touch Chart.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.
  • Consistently meets all Productivity Standards/Goals.

Productivity Standards

  • Number of calls taken per hour
  • Amount of time on “Not Ready” status
  • Accuracy and completeness of messages
  • Accuracy of notes posted in Touch Chart

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School degree required.
  • CMA Certificate preferred.
  • Training in Orthopedics preferred.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of managed care basics.
  • Patient, empathetic, and compassionate.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure under difficult situations.

Position requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
