Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) I assist in direct patient care by providing for activities of daily living (ADL), comfort, nutrition, and hygiene needs for the adult and geriatric patient. Takes and records clinical measures, collects specimens, provides transportation, and maintains equipment and supplies. Immediately informs RN of any changes in patient condition and reinforces patient teaching as part of providing a safe patient centered care environment.
May assist with patient charts as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
The Patient Care Assistant/Clerical Coordinator (PCA/CC) role does all of the above and also is responsible for some clerical coordinator responsibilities which includes processing and monitoring electronic orders for STAT, asap orders, verified orders and provides follow-up as needed. Maintains and updates pertinent patient information in computer systems. Answers all phone calls and greets visitors. Completes census sheet each night ages call lights.
Is an EPIC resource to the department.
