Quantitative Financial Analyst

The Quantitative Financial Analyst will be based in Newport Beach, CA. As a member of the Quantitative Research team, this individual will be responsible for contributing to research enhancing the firm’s stock selection model, risk models, and portfolio construction process as well as the development of tools to support the research process while working within the research team.

• Conducting research to identify, scrutinize, and validate stock selection signals and risk factors
• Researching, extracting, and validating current and new data sources (both structured and unstructured)
• Conducting research to enhance the portfolio construction process and trading cost models
• Assisting in implementation of enhancements to the firm’s quantitative models
• Providing support to the daily investment processes
• Collaborating with and presenting research outcomes to the research team and broader investment group

• Advanced degree in a financial or quantitative discipline. Master’s in Financial Engineering or PhD in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience conducting research in a quantitative equity environment (at an asset manager, sell side, PhD program, or similar).
• Self-starter with demonstrable ability to conduct independent research from idea generation to implementation.
• Experience working with large data sets including sourcing, cleaning, and analyzing data.
• The successful candidate should be proficient in Python and SQL and have AI experience with LLM’s and Generative AI.
• Strong grasp of linear algebra, statistical analysis, optimization methods, and machine learning techniques.
• General understanding of accounting, equity valuation, modern portfolio theory/CAPM, and equity risk models.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate ideas and collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Familiarity with Fact Set and/or Capital IQ databases is a plus.
