We’re looking for a Senior Project Engineer with expertise in Land Development Civil Infrastructure to support our Newport Beach office. This role is ideal for a California licensed P.E. with years of experience who enjoys leading technical delivery, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating directly with clients.
Responsibilities- Lead technical design and delivery of land development projects, including site layout, grading, drainage systems, underground utilities, and grade separations.
- Organize project workflows, establish design criteria, and delegate tasks to junior staff.
- Make decisions on specific project elements and consult with senior leadership on complex or critical issues.
- Support QA/QC implementation and identify out‑of‑scope services.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
- Assist in coordinating sub‑consultant work and ensure cohesive project execution.
- Attend project meetings and represent BKF as a secondary point‑of‑contact.
- Contribute to proposal development and cross‑sell BKF's services to regional clients.
- Manage assigned project elements within established budgets and timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET‑accredited program.
- California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly preferred;
Engineer‑in‑Training (E.I.T.) will also be considered. - Minimum 4 years of experience in land development design and project delivery.
- Strong background in site development, grading, drainage, underground utilities, and entitlement processes.
- Experienced with local agency standards, permitting processes, and coordination with municipalities and utility owners.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written, especially in client‑facing settings.
- Occasional travel required between BKF offices and client sites.
Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.
