About the Role (Staff Accountant — Outsourced Accounting / Advisory Focus)
We are hiring for a Staff Accountant for a CPA firm located in Newport Beach, CA. This role supports outsourced accounting, CFO advisory, and client accounting functions. This is ideal for a motivated accountant with 2–3 years of relevant experience who enjoys client-facing work, clear processes, and professional growth in a high-caliber environment. Compensation range $55,000 - $75,000.
Core Responsibilities:Client Accounting & Advisory Support
- Perform accurate and timely bookkeeping for multiple clients
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and organized work papers
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports
- Assist with payroll processing and related filings (as applicable)
- Support sales tax filings and business license renewals when required
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow analysis as needed
- Identify potential accounting issues and propose practical solutions
- Collaborate with senior accountants, controllers, or fractional CFOs on client work
- Maintain clear, professional communication with clients and internal teams
- Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines
- Follow firm accounting policies, procedures, and documentation standards
- Escalate issues appropriately with thoughtful context and recommendations
- Seek feedback proactively and demonstrate continuous improvement
- Deliver accurate, timely accounting work with limited supervision
- Document work clearly so it is easy for reviewers to follow
- Communicate early when stuck and ask thoughtful questions
- Demonstrate accountability for mistakes and learning
- Show readiness to take on more complex clients over time
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, or advisory services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles (GAAP)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA is a plus (not required)
- Master’s in Accounting or related field is a plus
- Experience with Quick Books, Xero, Net Suite, or similar platforms is helpful
- Hybrid role in Newport Beach, CA
- Overtime may be required during peak periods depending on the client
