Diesel Technician​/Mechanic III - Entry Level

Work Location:

12 St Johns Circle, Newnan GA 30265

Shift: 1st shift, 6:00am–2:30pm

• Maintain vehicles and ensure safety for customers
• Use Penske tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
• Perform preventative maintenance—such as tire replacement/rotation and lubrication—along with some electrical system and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engines
• Collaborate with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching
• Contribute to other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license
• Problem-solving ability and comfort using tools
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team and outdoors
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to follow specific instructions, guidelines, rules, and safety policies
• Compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including appropriate tools, PPE, and safety practices
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
• As driving is required, a current driver qualification file is maintained per DOT; CDL holders will have a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to work the required schedule and location; ability to pass background checks, drug screen, and DOT-required physical; potential travel for training

• Frequent movement; ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
• Manual dexterity to handle required tools and controls
• Ability to work safely at heights and in all weather conditions
• Ability to see and hear adequately for safe operation of equipment
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasional lift up to 100 lbs/45 kg; ability to push/pull heavy tires
