Facilities Maintenance Technician
City of Newnan, GA

Facilities Maintenance Department is looking for a motivated, skilled maintenance professional to ensure safe and well-maintained facilities for the City of Newnan. We offer a rich team environment that allows our personnel to showcase their talents and skills, while taking care of the needs of the citizens and staff of the City of Newnan.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Carpentry: Perform repairs and installations involving doors, windows, cabinets, and other wooden fixtures. Conduct minor renovations and improvements to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic quality.
  • Electrical: Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including lighting, outlets, circuit breakers, and wiring. Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
  • HVAC: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Diagnose issues and perform repairs to ensure optimal climate control and energy efficiency.
  • Plumbing: Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, water heaters, and irrigation systems. Address leaks, clogs, and other plumbing-related problems promptly.
  • General Maintenance: Perform routine inspections of each facility to identify maintenance needs. Respond to work orders and ensure timely completion of all tasks.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the Facilities team to coordinate tasks and share expertise. Provide support during emergencies or special projects as needed.
Required Skills
  • Knowledge:
    • Carpentry: Understand woodworking techniques, tools, and materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
    • Electrical
      :
      Have a common knowledge of electrical systems, including 3-phase applications. Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on systems ranging up to 480

      VAC.
    • HVAC: Broad understanding of HVAC systems, encompassing the fundamentals of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Well-versed in refrigerants, energy-efficient practices, and preventative maintenance techniques.
    • Plumbing: General knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and waste disposal.
  • Skills:
    • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use a wide range of tools and equipment related to carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing tasks.
    • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues efficiently and effectively.
    • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical information to non-technical staff and public.
    • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Abilities:
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work, from diagnosing problems to completing repairs.
    • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments, and to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years Facility Maintenance experience required
  • Active Universal HVAC EPA license preferred, not required
  • Warm Air License preferred, not required
  • CPO certification preferred, not required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds or more
