Practice Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Practice Accountant to join our clients growing firm. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional who enjoys working closely with clients and has an interest in rural and equine sectors, particularly within the agricultural sector.

You will manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services while building strong, trusted relationships.

Key Responsibilities of the Practice Accountant

* Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

* Preparation of management accounts and financial reporting

* VAT return preparation and advisory

* Tax compliance and planning support

* Liaising directly with clients and providing tailored financial advice

* Maintaining accurate records using cloud-based accounting software

* Visiting client premises, including racecourses, studs, and rural locations

About You

* ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)

* Proven experience in general practice, ideally with exposure to rural, agricultural, or equine clients — or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area

* Up-to-date working knowledge of VAT

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently engage with clients

* Strong IT skills, including experience with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero and Quick Books

* Ability and willingness to travel to client premises, including racecourses, studs, and rural locations

* High attention to detail with strong analytical skills

* A genuine interest in the horse racing industry is highly advantageous.
