Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Georgina

Summit Search Group is proud to partner with Hospice Georgina, a compassionate, community‑based nonprofit organization serving residents of the Town of Georgina and Georgina Island in Ontario. Its mission is to enhance dignity, comfort, and quality of life for individuals living with life‑limiting illness by offering non‑medical, emotional, social, and spiritual support. The organization provides a range of free programs including in‑home visiting volunteer services, caregiver respite, wellness and day hospice programs, peer support groups, and extensive grief and bereavement services for children, youth, adults, and seniors.

With a philosophy centered on holistic care and living as well as possible until end of life, Hospice Georgina supports both clients and their families through illness, death, and bereavement.

The organization plays a vital role in the community, delivering hundreds of hours of visiting support, group programs, and bereavement counselling each year, made possible through a dedicated team of staff and more than 11,000 annual volunteer hours. Hospice Georgina is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and relies heavily on community fundraising, donors, local partnerships, and limited government funding to sustain its services.

As demand for hospice and palliative supports continues to grow—particularly with no residential hospice beds currently located in Georgina—the organization is actively working toward expanding its capacity to meet community needs.

Hospice Georgina has less than 25 employees.

Position Scope:

Hospice Georgina is entering an exciting and transformative chapter. With a strong foundation of community‑based hospice programs and services, the organization is poised for thoughtful, measured growth that will strengthen its impact in the community. While the long‑term vision includes expanding to include a residential hospice, the immediate priority for the Executive Director is to stabilize, strengthen, and equip the organization for sustained success.

The Executive Director will play a pivotal leadership role in this evolution. Stepping into a mission‑driven, community‑anchored organization, the ED will be responsible for enhancing existing programs, building organizational capacity, improving operational systems, and strengthening partnerships. Over time—and once the organization is operating from a place of stability—the ED will support the Board of Directors in exploring and advancing the future inclusion of a residential model of care.

The Executive Director provides overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Hospice Georgina. In collaboration with the Board, the ED ensures effective program delivery, strong financial management, compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and a positive and inclusive culture for staff and volunteers. The ED also serves as the organization’s ambassador—building relationships, engaging donors, advocating within the community, and enhancing the organization’s visibility.

This role is ideal for a relationship‑driven, highly strategic leader who thrives in collaborative environments and is passionate about advancing hospice care. The successful candidate will bring vision, operational excellence, and the ability to build and inspire a high‑performing team while leading the organization into its next era.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships between Board, staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop and nurture a high‑performing staff team and lead staff training and development initiatives.
  • Represent Hospice Georgina in the community, acting as a visible and credible advocate for hospice care.
