About the role  A Senior Physics System Analyst (SPSA) provides leadership and advanced technical expertise for the system infrastructure supporting the Radiation Medicine Program (RMP), including radiation treatment planning and delivery. Working collaboratively with Southlake and Cancer Centre IT teams, the SPSA drives strategic IT planning to meet program needs, enhance workflow efficiency, streamline system administration, and ensure seamless integration with emerging technologies.

The SPSA also leads the physics systems team, overseeing daily IT operations and guiding the implementation of new technologies and systems within the RMP.

* Primary responsibilities:

*** Provides strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure alignment with clinical needs, departmental goals, and hospital IT strategies
* Coordinates the design and deployment of department-grade solutions across treatment planning and delivery systems, ensuring scalability, security, and interoperability with existing infrastructure
* Evaluates vendor platforms, performs risk and feasibility assessments, and oversees upgrade cycles and technology roadmaps to maintain long-term system reliability, integrity, and serviceability.
* Coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance ensuring system availability, reliability, performance, and compliance with clinical safety and security standards
* Engages with vendors to coordinate technical support, escalate unresolved issues, apply recommended patches, updates, or upgrades, and ensure that service-level expectations are met for critical clinical systems
* Contributes to team effectiveness by distilling complex troubleshooting experiences into structured documentation, building a sustainable knowledge base that strengthens the support team's capacity, accelerates resolution times, and fosters a culture of shared learning and continuous improvement.
* Acts as a key liaison between RMP and IT teams, translating RMP-specific clinical and technical requirements into actionable IT strategies/initiatives/projects, as well as adapting RMP infrastructure to align with evolving enterprise IT architectures, security standards, and integration frameworks
* Contributes to RMP and hospital IT planning and operation efforts by automating system administration, optimizing system performance, assessing systematic risks, evaluating new technologies, and enhancing cybersecurity
* Participates in cross-functional planning sessions to align RMP infrastructure projects with broader hospital IT architecture and framework/standards of CCO
* Designs and develops custom in-house scripts, tools and applications to streamline operational workflows, monitor system performance, optimize resource utilization, prevent unplanned downtime, automate system administration, and enhance operational efficiency
* Integrates emerging technologies into the IT environment by assessing compatibility and implementing system deployments to support innovation in clinical care and research within the Radiation Medicine Program (RMP).

* What you bring:

*** Minimum 10 years of Healthcare IT experience required
* Minimum 15 years of Unix/Linux/Windows system administration experience required
* Minimum 10 years of database administration experience required
* Minimum 6 years of storage management experience required
* Minimum 5 years of network administration experience required
* Minimum 3 years of virtualization experience required
* In-depth knowledge of radiation medical physics, radiation treatment planning/delivery, medical imaging, and quality assurance in radiation therapy
