Working Hours: Full or part time hours available. Monday – Friday, no weekend or evening commitment – hours to be agreed with successful candidate.
Location: Peter O’Sullevan House – Newmarket
Accountable To: Peter O’Sullevan House Lead Clinician
Salary: £40k – £45k FTE depending on experience

Overall purpose of the role:

  • To work as part of the Peter O’Sullevan House multi-disciplinary team delivering a comprehensive physiotherapy rehabilitation service.
  • To ensure the delivery and development of safe effective clinical services to IJF beneficiaries, injured jockeys, and the racing workforce.
  • To participate in relevant research and audit programmes.
  • To uphold the clinical standards set by the Injured Jockeys Fund and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Principal duties and responsibilities

General management of the site and facilities:

  • To support the Clinical Operations Director and Lead Clinician in developing the clinical services of the Injured Jockeys Fund.
  • To deliver a safe, effective, evidence-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation service at Peter O’Sullevan House.
  • To actively support the development of Peter O’Sullevan House as a centre of excellence for the rehabilitation of injured sportsmen and women.
  • To ensure clinical resources are maintained and checked on a regular basis – this may include daily testing and maintenance of the hydro-pool.
  • To take an active role in delivering appropriate CPD and support the wider IJF CPD initiative.
  • To actively participate in all aspects of clinical working including:
    • Communicating and working closely with patient administration and centre management.
    • Communicating effectively with all relevant colleagues and organisations.
    • Ensuring effective and timely referral where appropriate.
  • To take part in research and audit programmes, compiling reports and implementing findings where appropriate.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
