JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Supervisor, Compliance – Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater plays a critical leadership role in ensuring regulatory compliance across the Town’s linear infrastructure systems. This position is responsible for overseeing compliance activities for drinking water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater management infrastructure. The supervisor ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA), Environmental Protection Act (EPA), and all MECP-issued approvals and permits.

This role provides operational and technical oversight for compliance programs, reporting, and program delivery, while coordinating initiatives to maintain the Town’s assets in a state of good repair. The position also provides direct supervision and guidance to the Coordinator, Water Quality Management Systems to ensure consistency across all drinking water quality management responsibilities. This role serves as a primary liaison with MECP, York Region Public Health, and other government agencies regarding compliance matters and operational inquiries.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the Town’s compliance programs for water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems, ensuring all regulatory requirements are consistently met.
  • Supervise and provide direction to the Coordinator, Water Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS) and all reporting obligations.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of organizational adherence to regulatory requirements, environmental approvals, and municipal standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to procedures, contract management, and system compliance, and recommend corrective actions to management.
