Test Development Engineer
Description
The ideal candidate for the Test Development Engineering position thrives at the hardware/software boundary and is motivated by solving complex problems in a fast‑paced environment. They are looking for someone who can be client‑facing and has the potential to grow into a project lead role within two to three years. This role involves the development of functional and system‑level test strategies and solutions for Aerospace & Defense, Health Tech, Smart Energy, and Industrial segments.
You will deliver these solutions to global production sites and support local engineering teams during product launches. Work is project‑based within a structured team environment, collaborating with an experienced group of engineers and technicians in a dedicated test development lab. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who drives development activities forward while contributing to team and project objectives.
- Develop production test strategies based on product design specifications.
- Lead design and development of test solutions, including hardware and Optional software components.
- Participate in all development phases: test planning, software development, hardware design, system integration, procurement, qualification, and installation support.
- Provide development support for multiple global production facilities.
- Optimize test processes to improve cycle time and yield.
- Analyze data to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Integrate tools and code from internal teams or external customers.
- Debug solutions using design of experiments and failure analysis methodologies.
- Review and validate technical documentation (test plans, schematics, PFMEA, qualification reports).
- Act as liaison between customers, program managers, and technical teams.
- Apply continuous improvement principles throughout development.

Skills & Qualifications
- Programming experience in Python
- Experience with NI hardware (PXI, DAQ)
- Familiarity with controlled goods regulations and security screening processes

This is a contract position based out of Newmarket, ON.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Newmarket, ON.
