Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Manager, Climate, Environment & Sustainability, the Technical Student – Environment & Climate Change will be responsible for assisting the Environment & Sustainability Business Unit with specific project requirements. Also assists in carrying out various types of inspections, site visits, and project monitoring. This position will also be responsible for assisting with the collection and input of data using various software programs.
Job Requirements- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Natural Resources, the Environment, Sustainability, Climate Change, Civil Engineering, or equivalent and/or combination of education and experience. Previous outdoor or infrastructure related employment may be considered an asset.
- Strong organization, analytical skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a variety of personality types.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member as well as the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision to meet deadlines, perform multiple tasks and to respect confidentiality.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail, accuracy, and to convey of highly technical discussion points is necessary.
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, other Departments and staff.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Suite of Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and GIS systems.
Experience with Survey
123 or similar is an asset. - Class 'G' driver's license in good standing with reliable vehicle available for corporate business driving to sites throughout the Town of Newmarket.
- Experience and/or a working knowledge of on-site inspections and workplace safety and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
