Overview
As a Director of Finance you will lead your team of Accountants in generating all monthly financial, accounting and statistical reports to be completed by the 15th day of the month. You will assist staff in analyzing balance sheet accounts monthly as well as supervise Accountants and Benefits Coordinators directly, conducting monthly reviews.
Additional Responsibilities Include- Coordinate the closing process, ensuring that the CR, CD, AP and General Journal entries are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review the initial draft of the financial statements, comparing actual month‑to‑month variances and analyzing all material differences.
- Conduct a monthly review of Fixed Assets, including capitalization with supporting documentation.
- Monitor cash disbursements, cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable and other office activities for accuracy.
- Ensure the company and Outreach intercompany accounts are balanced monthly.
- Assist in reviewing allocation percentages for expenses prior to the start of the new fiscal year.
- Prepare and review month‑end closing entries for the company and Outreach.
- With the Accountant, prepare and review the monthly general ledger reconciliations for Outreach and review the monthly payroll reconciliations for both companies.
- Prepare all company Operating Account reporting, including monthly bank reconciliations and other reports as assigned.
- Review, approve, and issue the monthly giveback spreadsheet, offering suggestions to management on minimizing foreseen givebacks.
- In conjunction with the CFO, assist in preparing the OP‑Plan, COR, Cost Reports and any other reports required by funding agencies.
- Assist with year‑end financial audit and any state or federal audit required.
- Review the recording and capitalization of all fixed assets and their applicable depreciation.
- Assist in developing, preparing and documenting Finance Dept. operating procedures and policies.
- Drive process improvement within the Finance Dept., automating manual processes and maximizing use of current accounting software.
- Supervise Accountant and Benefits Coordinator directly, documenting supervision monthly.
- Ensure all benefits are current for individuals.
- Ensure all Consultant contracts are current, distributed and renewed annually before the fiscal year begins.
- Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP.
- Ensure timely completion of quarterly client fund audits and communicate findings to appropriate directors and coordinators.
- Perform any other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related area within the financial field.
- 5‑10 years’ experience in accounting and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience creating and utilizing various spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of MIP Accounting software is a plus.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newington, CT.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $51.28 – $56.41/hr.
