IntroductionThe State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). is recruiting for a Fiscal/Administrative Supervisor in the Bureau of Finance and Administration, Office of Finance, Division of Financial Management and Support. The Division provides financial support for engineering design and public and private utilities, and provides accounting and budget services for testing of materials and environmental services. Office of Finance comprises three divisions (Budget Services, Capital Services, and Financial Management & Support) that provide business and financial support, budgeting, accounting, accounts receivable, and federal and State funding management to meet CTDOT needs.

- This hybrid position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy
This is a supervisory position reporting to the unit manager. It involves assigning and reviewing work of professional staff, handling the most complex contracts, and maintaining professional relationships across the Department. The selected candidate should have strong communication and organizational skills.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise the Utility Unit within the Division of Financial Management and Support
- Schedule, assign, oversee, and review staff work; provide training as required
- Conduct annual Employee Performance Evaluations
- Oversee processing of invoices for utility and municipality invoices related to highway relocation
- Oversee processing of materials testing contracts invoices
- Provide financial support to the Bureau of Policy and Planning, including SPR program processing, reporting, and budget development
- Complete financial close-out of all utility projects
- Develop and maintain written procedures
- Perform related duties as required

In a state agency, supervise staff engaged in fiscal/administrative functions with emphasis on fiscal administration or payroll oversight.
- Supervise accounts maintenance; prepare financial statements and budget requests
- Review expenditures; schedule and oversee staff work; provide training

- Oversee financial aspects of EDP systems and procurement activities
- Supervise grant/contract administration and requisitioning
- May supervise other support services; perform related duties

Experience:
Eight (8) years in fiscal/administrative functions with at least one year in accounting, budgeting, or payroll
