Overview

Newcastle United Women are looking for an ambitious and driven Sessional Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our growing Performance Department. This role will play a key part in developing the physical capabilities of our players, supporting on‑pitch performance, and contributing to our high‑performance environment as the team continues its progression. Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence‑informed S&C programmes, support rehabilitation, and contribute to the ongoing physical development of the squad in line with our key principles and the NUW Performance Plan.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence‑informed S&C programmes, support rehabilitation, and contribute to the ongoing physical development of the squad in line with our key principles and the NUW Performance Plan.

Your

Impact
  • Plan, deliver and review evidence‑informed strength and conditioning programmes (on and off pitch) that maximise individual and squad physical performance in alignment with the NUW Performance Plan.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to provide S&C support for long‑term rehabilitation and return‑to‑play processes.
  • Implement and evaluate physical profiling systems that inform individual development plans and targeted S&C programmes.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of monitoring systems (external load, internal load, wellness and neuromuscular status) to support MDT decision‑making.
    Support the implementation of innovative, evidence‑based recovery strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with key staff to ensure S&C practices are integrated, impactful, and fully understood.
  • Develop, deliver and regularly review S&C plans for all NUW players.
  • Support the ongoing refinement and delivery of the NUW Performance Plan.
    Assist with player education and provide clear, timely progression updates.
  • Collect, analyse and interpret performance data to inform coaching and medical decisions.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and well‑organised database of all work undertaken.
  • Ensure all S&C sessions are supported by appropriate risk assessments.
    Attend First Team matches — home, away and pre‑season — as required.
  • Represent the Performance Department at meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to departmental learning.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc (or equivalent) in Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning from an accredited institution.
  • S&C Accreditation (e.g., UKSCA, ASCA, NSCA) — or the ability to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel to various locations to meet role demands.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Significant experience working effectively within a high‑performance multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong operational and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and solve problems effectively.
  • Experience designing and delivering physical development programmes that drive measurable performance improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    A reflective practitioner with the ability to adapt and improve working methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with players, coaches and wider MDT staff.
  • Strong IT skills, including extensive use of Microsoft Office and programme‑design platforms.
  • Ability to utilise performance data to inform S&C practice.
  • Experience working within elite women’s professional football.
  • Experience supporting elite female athletes.
  • Experience contributing to complex rehabilitation and return‑to‑play processes.
