Software Engineer — Python / Django

Newcastle upon Tyne (5 days onsite)

Up to £80,000 DOE + generous package

We are hiring a Software Engineer with a strong focus on Python to join an elite engineering consultancy delivering complex, data‑driven platforms for a tier‑one consulting partner.

This role is suited to engineers who enjoy solving ambiguous problems, building robust systems, and operating in high‑expectation, delivery‑led environments.

• Design, build, and own backend services and applications using Python and Django
• Deliver production‑grade systems that are scalable, reliable, and well‑engineered
• Work closely with engineers, data specialists, and senior stakeholders to translate business problems into technical solutions
• Apply sound engineering judgement, challenge assumptions, and take ownership from design through to delivery

• Strong commercial experience as a Software Engineer with Python
• Hands‑on experience with Django (or similar Python web frameworks) in production environments
• Solid understanding of backend engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data modelling, and system design
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, collaborative, client‑facing environments

• A strong academic background, with a degree from a Russell Group university or a globally recognised equivalent, demonstrating exceptional analytical and technical capability
• High‑bar engineering environment with real ownership and accountability
• Work on intellectually demanding problems with tangible business impact
• Collaborate with exceptional engineers in a delivery‑focused consultancy setting
• Competitive salary up to £80,000, plus a generous overall package
