Research Assistant: £33,002 - £33,951 per annum, pro rata

Research Associate: £35,608 - £46,049 per annum, pro rata

The Role

The purpose of this role will be to carry out research involved in the adaptation and evaluation of a group-based psycho educational intervention for remotely delivery with people after Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) and minor stroke. Research activities will be carried out in collaboration with our academic partners (University of Nottingham) and staff working within clinical services at NHS participating sites. You will play a key role in the delivery of the intervention programme of a multi-centre pre/post intervention study in which a remotely delivered group psycho educational programme, developed and further refined by the research team, will be evaluated.

The study will investigate if the remote mode of delivery is feasible and well-tolerated from participants recruited in primary care and community settings.

The Project

You will be required to deliver the group psycho educational programme remotely, to recruit study participants and to assess them on baseline measures or outcome measures. You will be expected to undertake research activities independently as well as working as part of a team and will be responsible for writing up their work in order to contribute to project meetings and published outcomes.

Working with the wider research team including the Co-Lead (Dr Jade Kettlewell) and directly supervised by the PI (Dr Eirini Kontou).

This post is part time, fixed term for a period of 24 months until 31 December 2027 for 18.5 hours per week.

Key Accountabilities
  • Effective liaison with study participants, research and clinical staff. This will involve collection of outcome measures assessing mood, cognition and quality of life
  • Data collection from NHS-based clinical services
  • Knowledge of project related research governance and administrative duties
The Person (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and rapidly acquire new skills
  • Detailed subject knowledge in health services delivery research (ideally in stroke)
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to communicate complex information with clarity and to encourage the commitment of others
  • Experience of research with clear transferable skills and some experience or awareness of the research environment in stroke or psychology
Attributes and Behaviour
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • Willing to take on extra tasks and support other projects where appropriate
  • Being highly organised
Qualifications
  • PhD for Research Associate level and Masters for Research Assistant level
  • Subject matter (Psychology) expertise
