As part of the Flexible Pipe Systems offshore team based in Newcastle UK you will be joining an established business and team with expertise in pipe design, manufacturing, and installation. This unique combination allows our customers to increase production and asset integrity whilst reducing the overall costs associated with a pipeline system. Partner with the best. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Specialist to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and systems to enhance Productivity, Quality, Safety and Efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, process optimization, and a passion for continuous improvement. As a Manufacturing Specialist, you will be responsible for engineering associated with the manufacturing processes. You will discuss consequences of changes in products and processes within your own team and to other internal functions.

You will develop improvement plans and implement those improvements inclusive of changes to Process, Equipment and Procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with the Work Centre Team (WCT), analysing manufacturing data to identify Process Improvement areas, quantify the benefits of the changes and prioritising projects/improvements within a designated area.
  • Establishing an interface and communicating effectively with employees at all levels, including management, suppliers and internal/external customers.
  • Liaising with Planning, Quality, Maintenance and Production Shift Leads to ensure smooth operation of the Work Centre.
  • Sharing best practices, information and improvements with the wider Production Engineering and site teams.
  • Leading investigations into production challenges and non‑conformances to identify and correct root causes and increase area process performance in line with the improvement plan.
  • Verify and work with Design Improvements (Design for Manufacturing) or Process Improvements that can reduce unplanned downtime, bring Productivity, Safety and Quality benefits.
Qualifications
  • Have a high‑school diploma or equivalent, technical or vocational training in Manufacturing or related field preferred.
  • Have proven years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in the subsea industry or related field.
  • Have knowledge of production equipment and processes, particularly in the manufacturing of Subsea Flexible Pipes.
  • Have strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately as well as supporting in improving them to bring Quality, Safety and Productivity benefits to the business.
  • Have good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Have a willingness to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrate proven attention to detail, supported by excellent analytical, critical‑thinking, problem‑solving and personal‑organisation skills.
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have proficiency in 3D modelling, with advanced expertise in Solid Works for creating precise, detailed and production‑ready designs.
  • Have proficiency in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing technologies, fast prototyping).
