About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Office Manager / Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day administration and financial operations of a busy construction office based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the office while managing financial processes including CIS and VAT payments. This role is ideal for someone with previous experience working in a construction environment who is confident handling finance, compliance, and office operations.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily administration and management of the office
- Manage company financial processes including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations
- Administer Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions and submissions
- Prepare and manage VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with budgeting and reporting
- Process subcontractor payments and maintain subcontractor records
- Liaise with accountants, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Manage office systems, documentation, and internal procedures
- Support senior management with operational and financial reporting
- Proven experience managing an office within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of CIS and VAT processes
- Experience with bookkeeping, invoicing, and financial administration
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) is desirable
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
