About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Office Manager / Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day administration and financial operations of a busy construction office based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the office while managing financial processes including CIS and VAT payments. This role is ideal for someone with previous experience working in a construction environment who is confident handling finance, compliance, and office operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily administration and management of the office
  • Manage company financial processes including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations
  • Administer Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions and submissions
  • Prepare and manage VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with budgeting and reporting
  • Process subcontractor payments and maintain subcontractor records
  • Liaise with accountants, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Manage office systems, documentation, and internal procedures
  • Support senior management with operational and financial reporting
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing an office within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of CIS and VAT processes
  • Experience with bookkeeping, invoicing, and financial administration
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) is desirable
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
